Aubrey and Scott's Wedding

I've been a big ball of stress for weeks now, hardly keeping my own head attached to my shoulders, so I shouldn't have been surprised that my dear friend Aubrey's wedding snuck up on me. On Friday I realized that the wedding was the next day and that I had yet to get my hair cut (it was badly in need of a trim), my nails done (also in terrible shape), or pick out a dress to wear. Oh, did I mention that I hadn't washed my laundry in two weeks and had next to nothing left clean?

Saturday I headed to laundromat early. It was also Chris' birthday, so we went to Three Wise Men brewery while our clothes dried. We had some pizza and Chris ordered a beer. Afterwards I rushed to Macy's to buy a dress for the wedding and then had my hair trimmed. There was no time to get my nails done, so I hurried home to shower and do my makeup. I tried to recreate this look I found through Pinterest, and was surprised by how much I loved it. (I didn't think I'd be able to do it without it looking gaudy.)

My "Disneyland at Night" makeup look.
The wedding was at the Indiana Historical Society's Stardust Terrace, which is outdoors along the canal. I arrived shortly after 6 and caught up with some people I hadn't seen in a long while. I was very excited to see my wonderful Nicholas, who lives in Orlando, Florida. He hadn't planned on coming to the wedding, but sadly his great-grandmother passed away this past week and he was home for the funeral.

The ceremony started at 6:30. It was beautiful and fitting to both Aubrey and Scott's personalities (a lot of laughing). Aubrey's godfather had been ordained online so he could perform the ceremony for them. After they officially became man and wife, the bar and photo booth opened. Nick and I took advantage of both. Unfortunately the cash bar was very expensive, so we were forced to improvise by running down the street to grab our own bottle of vodka and some cranberry juice.

The photo booth was delightful.
There was delicious food, a lot of dancing, and an all-around great time for several hours. As the allotted rental time at the venue wound down the wedding party and a few of us decided to head over to Kilroy's to continue our celebrations/sober up. Chris joined us for the trip to Kilroys, where much water and pizza was consumed. Jessy, Adam, Nick, Chris and I walked back together, stopping at Monument Circle to admire the views.

The wedding took place on the terrace in front of the columned historical society.
Aubrey and Scott are in the Caribbean for the week, enjoying their honeymoon and beautiful beaches and I couldn't be happier for them. I remember sitting in Scott's basement at New Year's, telling him about my plans to move, my difficulty in finding support for my plans from the people I care about. I had met Scott plenty of times before, hung out at the same parties, but never had a meaningful conversation until that night. That was the night I realized why Aubrey was marrying him. He had always seemed like a fun and funny guy, but that conversation revealed his kindness and what a genuinely supportive person he is. I am so happy that Aubrey has found someone worthy of her, someone who will join her in living life on their own terms. I am grateful to have been there to celebrate their happiness.
