Evolution of Style: Month Two (September)

I plan to publish these style posts at the beginning of each month, so here is my room in September:

There were a lot of changes to my room in the month of August. Darla's boyfriend dropped off all of her stuff from his U-Haul, plus two suitcases of my stuff that I had left with him in Lincoln. I have everything I own here now. I also took off my closet doors, as you can see above. My room is so small and I felt stifled. Taking the doors off the closet and placing my bookshelf inside made my room feel larger and more open. Darla and I both implemented banker's boxes as clothing organizers, as you can see in the upper left. All of my hanging clothes are to the left and right of the bookcase. The closet extends behind the wall, so my clothes are still mostly hidden. One of my coworkers gave me the dresser on the right. She had planned to give it to Goodwill, but knew I needed furniture. When I have money, I'm planning to repaint the drawers and add custom drawer pulls.

After taking the closet doors off, I rearranged some things. The dark mass next to the dresser is two pairs of boots that I don't have boot uprights for. The suitcase was in the closet, but there is no place for it now, so it is in the corner. You may notice there are two lamps now. I plan to have one on each nightstand...on the distant day I have a bed and nightstands.

Also arriving with the U-Haul was my Andy Warhol print. I'm still sleeping on my nest because I can't afford a mattress or even the U-Haul rental fee to pick up a mattress.

I wanted to include my linen closet, because it has also played a crucial role in my reorganization. It originally contained all of my make up, perfume, towels, and a space bag full of other bags (duffels, cosmetic bags, etc)

Now my purses hang from a tension rod on the top shelf while some of my make up and all of my perfume is on the second shelf. I installed two spice racks in my bathroom, which house the rest of my make up and skincare. Eventually I will add a floating shelf below the spice racks and all of my make up will be in the bathroom.

This plastic set of drawers became unnecessary in my bedroom when I received the dresser, but it fit perfectly into my linen closet and now stores some things that had been loose on a shelf. On the left is the space bag of bags I mentioned above.
