Oregon Bound

It's finally happening.

My dad, brother, and I finished the work on my car on Monday. On Tuesday morning I had it aligned. Then I said goodbye to my family and headed west. The drive to Nebraska was supposed to be 10 hours but took 12.5 for some reason. It was brutal. My car was cram packed with stuff, so I couldn't see out all of my back and side windows. Winston was crammed into a tiny space in the front seat and he was not happy about it. He's been stressed out for about a week now, likely because of my packing, spending days at a time with my parents, and my own stress level. Twelve hours in the car did not improve his spirit. By the time we finally arrived in Lincoln he was in no mood to meet new people or Banjo, my best friend's rambunctious Husky. The two of them will be living together soon so he had better adapt.

I spent a few hours on Darla's living room floor failing to sleep. The next day (Wednesday) I decided I could not handle my stress and emotions on next to no sleep, or dealing with Winston being aggressive to Darla's dog and boyfriend, so I got a hotel room.

After a shower and power nap Winston and I went back to Darla's for an Independence Day shindig. I met her and Cleve's friends, ate some tasty food, and played with sparklers. Darla came back to the hotel with me to sleep and today we have slept a lot, pigged out a lot, and watched Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

Tonight we might go out to dinner or swim in the hotel pool or do nothing. We'll see. Tomorrow I drive to Denver.
